There are two Rollerballs: one that didn't descend and the other that
was a testosterone-fuelled wrecking ball. As usual, the original 1970s
version is the one that works, and so the one we concentrate on after
getting the 2002 version out of the way in the first of this double bill of videos. We look at the major themes like collectivism versus the individual, corporate society, violence, sport as religion and the role of culture, and ask the question, can the 1975 version be classed
as a Rightist film despite its Chewish star?
In the second video, David Yorkshire revisits the proper Rollerball film to put a bit of pressure on the art,
architecture, music and interior decor that creates the atmosphere and
adds depth to the fictional - or perhaps not so fictional - world of
Rollerball. Please subscribe to the channel, share the videos on social media and help the channel to grow.
