MJOLNIR AT THE MOVIES DUST SPECIAL

James and David Yorkshire take a look at the website and Youtube channel Dust, a platform for independent film makers of sci-fi fiction to showcase their short films. We analyse a few of the best and most interesting - as well as the worst - films on the Dust platform. We end by reminding people of the good work of independent film maker Michael Kingsbury and urge people to support him.

  1. I have been watching this video and we have been watching the films recommended. Everyone enjoyed the film, 'the black hole' and 'the nostalgist' is superb; (particularly liked the elegant visuals and the contrast between the 1900s aesthetics and the cyber-hell). Certainly is an interesting channel with films which are visually inventive. Thanks.

  2. Upside of that channel is there's always something new. You could probably get a lot of clever right thinking commentary and subtext slipped into your work and still shown as long as you weren't stupid and rubbing it into people's faces. It is not a bad thing to be forced into being clever and artful in your works.

  3. I posted a reply to your comment Alfred as it relates to your regarding the Henson studio who did the sfx for several science fiction movies among others. I agree with you and just thought I'd chime in - I think its the producer and producing aspect rather than the script aspect. Having people just concentrate on script and then others on other specialisations helps. A film maker having to do it all him or herself can become something of a chore and taxing even on the amateur principle (in its best sense of the word.)
